Shaping Public Opinion - Images and Documents Massachusetts Senator Daniel Webster attended a campaign rally in Richmond during the 1840 presidential contest. At the request of the women of the city, he delivered a speech to the ladies who were taking an active part for the first time in presidential politics. More than one thousand women attended the speech. |
