We're Expanding Our Hours! Starting Tuesday, July 6, 2021, the Library of Virginia will be open 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Tuesday–Friday. Face coverings are encouraged in the building—fully vaccinated visitors are not required to wear them, but are welcome to do so. Although appointments are no longer needed to use our second-floor reading rooms, our Special Collections Reading Room still requires them (call 804.692.3703 or email specialcoll@lva.virginia.gov). Find It Virginia Responds Find It Virginia—a carefully curated selection of authoritative databases, online learning products, and digital reading content for Virginians of all ages—is now offering additional programs focusing on education and jobs to support recovery from the pandemic. All resources are free and available with a public library card anywhere in Virginia. For students (from pre-K to college), Brainfuse’s HelpNow offers live tutoring from certified teachers on any topic. Job seekers can build skills through Universal Class and Peterson’s Career Preparation and find career coaching and job-search assistance through Brainfuse’s JobsNow. Entrepreneur Learning Initiative, a modular course, explores starting a business from idea to opening.
Because of the costs associated with licensing these electronic resources, the Library of Virginia is only able to provide them to Virginia residents. Find It Virginia is supported by federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. For more information, contact Nan Carmack at nan.carmack@lva.virginia.gov or 804.692.3792.
