Years
|

|
Virginia
Archives Month is 20! For two decades,
every October, the archival and special
collections institutions around the
commonwealth have joined together to
celebrate and raise awareness about the
importance of our shared documentary
history. What began as Virginia Archives
Week in 2002 has grown into a statewide
celebration of the institutions and
professionals who safeguard, preserve
and make accessible records of enduring
value.
Participating
institutions will share information,
videos, programs, tours and resources.
Join us for a free Archives
Month Tour of the Library of
Virginia on Saturday, Oct.
22 at 12:00 or 1:00 p.m., as well as a
panel discussion, Memory's
Journey: Addressing Difficult Family
History, on Wednesday, Oct
26 at 6 p.m. This in-person event will
also be livestreamed on our Facebook and YouTube
pages.

digital language-learning tool, Transparent
Language Online, to the Library Development
and Networking Division’s Find It Virginia
collection. The program offers online
courses that support a variety of learning
styles for more than 120 languages,
including 24 Indigenous languages and
American Sign Language. For younger
learners, KidSpeak offers animation-based
instruction in six different languages for
children in grades K-2. Transparent Language
also supports English-language learners with
ESL/ELL materials for speakers of 34
different languages as well as an American
Citizenship Test prep course.

|
|
Transparent Language Online is now available
(on computers and tablets as well as through
an app) from Virginia’s public libraries (find your local
library) and at finditva.com. Free
access to Transparent Language and other
resources in the Find It Virginia
