"Chickmauga in 1864 just before surrender of army of Northern Virginia; was transferred to the C.S. and served as Captain and Aide-de-Camp on Stall with his brother Major General Fitzhugh Lee. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia on February 14, 1844. The son of Captain Sidney Smith Lee of the U.S. Navy and the C.S. Navy. He went with the Corps of caders under Jackson to Camp Lee at Richmond on April 21, 1861 and spent three months drilling volunteers; went to Manassas attached as drill master to brigade of General Whiting. Lieutenant in charge of attachment of sailors to Man-Batteries ofMechanicsville Road in Port of Richmond. Later in Cold Harbor Fight of Petersburg, then Naval Brigade Drewry's Bluff. At fall of Richmond, was wounded and captured at Sailor's Creek, but escaped and joined the C.S. Calvalry. Captain and Aide-de-Camp to Major Genral Fitzhugh Lee.
