Publisher of a single Episcopalian (Anglican) imprint in Winchester in 1816.
Archibald was not a tradesman, but rather the patron for a work issued from the press of Jonathan Foster (168), who, in turn, published another edition in 1818, suggesting its local popularity. The work was a bible history by the English prelate Paul Wright (d. 1785): The New and Complete Life of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Published originally in London in 1782, Archibald's imprint was the eighth American edition; Foster's would be the ninth. Notably, its production was concurrent with efforts by the Bishop William Meade to revive the old colonial church in a new independent guise, indicating that Archibald was an adherent to that faith in Frederick County. However, absent other information, such as church records, further identification of this publisher is not possible.
