Printer's devil in press office of his father Augustine Davis (119).
The sons of Augustine Davis have left only fleeting evidence of their lives; Augustine Jr. has the most heart-rending story among them. He drowned in the James River while swimming near Ross's mill in May 1793 at nine or ten years of age; it was reported then that this second of Davis's sons was a devil in his office at that time.
