Partner in Richmond bookstore with William Prichard (343) in 1808-09; on own until 1816.
Adams was a previously unknown figure in the Virginia print trade when he joined William Prichard in 1808 as the former Philadelphia bookseller reorganized his business. After about a year together, Adams went solo in a competing bookstore that specialized in legal titles; occasionally, he joined with other Atlantic coast booksellers in the subscription publishing of legal tracts in New York City. Adams probably removed to Philadelphia after 1816, where he published a child-care manual. Given the common nature of his name, any full identification of Adams is essentially impossible without further evidence.
