Publisher of the short-lived Monongalia Herald in partnership with James M. Barbour (020), apparently a relative.
The Herald represents this Barbour's only appearance in the records of the American printing trade. William's role was evidently one of financier to a paper that James edited and printed for their mutual profit. However, the Herald suffered the same fate as its two Morgantown predecessors, ceasing publication after just a six-month run: December 16, 1820 to possibly July 1821. While James remained in Morgantown, and published another paper there in 1822, William is not seen in either the town's historical record or the national bibliographic record again.
