Printer working in Richmond in 1799.
Savage is known to be a part of the Virginia printing trade only by a notice of his marriage that was published in the Virginia Gazette and General Advertiser of Augustine Davis (119) in Richmond in November 1799. As Davis was the only publisher of that notice, it appears that Savage was employed in his press office. However, no other information on Savage can be discerned from the bibliographic and historical record, largely because of the numerous like-named individuals living in Virginia at that time. Such a search is also complicated by the fact that he may have been connected to Savage family of Connecticut printers, and so not one of the many Virginia Savages.
