Publisher of The Staunton Spy (1793-95) with William Throckmorton (415).
Chapman's identity is unclear; he was apparently the financial and/or editorial partner to the practical printer Throckmorton as he appears nowhere else in the bibliographic record. As such, he was probably a merchant or landowner in Augusta County, but absent a specific first name, there are too many possible candidates for a clear identification. It is possible that he was an uncle of the early Augusta County notable Chapman Johnson, named for his mother's Louisa County family.
