- notes: With issue of October 17, 1833, Hunter resumed using shorter title of 1810-25 period; he employed E.V. Sparhawk as his editor from May 29 to November 13, 1834. Following issue of February 27, 1845, Hunter sold paper to James E. Stewart, who retained ownership to February 25, 1847, with Henry K. Gregg from March 5, 1846. Charles H. Lewis took control with issue of March 4, 1847; he then formed firm of Lewis & Stofer with issue of April 13, 1848; Lewis then sold his interest to Norman Miller with issue of August 4, 1848. In early 1849, Miller withdrew from the firm, forcing its sale at auction in July 1849. Miller reacquired the office, sans Stofer, and brought in George A. Porterfield with the issue of September 18, 1849, creating firm of Miller & Porterfield; Porterfield retired from the firm with the issue of September 2, 1951; Miller retained sole ownership until May 23, 1855.
