Richmond Chronicle
- id: 286
- end_date: August 27, 1796
- frequency: 2/week (Tue/Fri)
- lineage_id: 72
- proprietors: John Dixon
- start_date: May 23, 1795
- variant_number: Richmond 04-07
- notes: With issue of May 23, 1795, Dixon simplified title of his paper, eliminating the customary Virginia Gazette name, evidently in recognition that most Virginia papers were no longer vehicles of official information. Financial issues resulted in Dixon's inability to acquire new type for his paper in summer of 1796, so leading him to retire from journalism until his fortunes improved; the last number that he issued here was that for August 27, 1796.
