- notes: With issue of February 7, 1795, Throckmorton altered title of his paper to claim legitimacy as an official gazette, as many publishers in the state then did. Throckmorton sold journal to Robert Douthat sometime between September 26, 1795 (latest surviving issue with his imprimatur) and January 22, 1796 (calculated start date of next publishing arrangement), and left Staunton; he died the following August in Charleston, South Carolina.
