Spirit of the Times and Wellsburgh Gazette
- id: 444
- end_date: after November 21, 1817
- frequency: Weekly
- lineage_id: 105
- proprietors: Samuel Workman
- start_date: Before October 10, 1817
- variant_number: Wellsburg 01-03
- notes: Earliest known number of this title is the one issued October 10, 1817 (vol. 2, no. 90), so giving a calculated start date of December 29, 1815; as that date preceded the renaming of town in December 1816, subtitle seen here must have been added about January 1817, when news of the Assembly's action reached Brooke County. The three surviving numbers of this title (October 10 & 17, and November 21, 1817) all carry Workman's imprimatur, suggesting he had continued publication of his Charlestown Gazette from April 1814 until he sold this paper in January 1818, though likely with some interruptions over that time.
