• notes: Following the issue of November 30, 1822, John Berry sold his weekly to John Gruber and retired from journalism to practice law; Gruber remained sole proprietor until he sold the paper to Thomas Service in October 1826; no copies of this variant are known extant from the period between January 1824 and March 1827, but notice published in a Washington, Pennsylvania, paper on October 28, 1826, reported "recent" sale of paper to Service, so the end date reported here.
