- notes: With the issue of April 7, 1809, Brown retired from the Repository, leaving Williams sole proprietor; paper was managed by Gallaher from mid-1814 to August 1815 as Williams served in Virginia militia; paper was not issued on August 25 & September 1, 1814, when Gallaher was called to service in defense of Washington. At war end, Williams resumed publishing his weekly through issue of February 28, 1827, when he sold it to Gallaher, who merged the Repository with his Harpers Ferry weekly, so forming the Virginia Free Press & Farmers' Repository on March 7, 1827, issued from Williams's Charlestown office.
