- notes: First paper published in Clarksburg was associated with political faction of James Pindall, a Federalist then in the Virginia Senate; Pindall induced his brother-in-law, Forbes Britton to bring his press from Morgantown to produce this paper; Britton brought his brother Alexander to Clarksburg to assist him. First number seems to have issued on July 26, 1810, though dating is conjectural as a result of only three numbers surviving today; the paper ceased publication when business was forced into receivership in fall 1815.
