- notes: McGranahan printed the Monongalia Spectator in Morgantown until terminated by his backers for drunkenness; he was then invited to Clarksburg by Federalists there to publish this title for them in competition with the Republican Compiler. He began its publication on August 4, 1819 and continued until December 1824, with a suspension in mid-1821 of unknown length for want of funds to continue. He later issued the Harrison Whig in 1840.
