- notes: When the Green & Cady partnership dissolved at the end of June 1815, the two men sold a majority interest in business to former Alexandria bookseller William Fairfax Gray; Green evidently retained an interest in the paper during Gray's proprietorship, as he reappeared as such exactly two years later, indicating a limited term arrangement with Gray; with the transfer to Gray, the Herald began a new numbering series that continued for duration of his proprietorship: July 1, 1815 (vol. 1, no. 1) to June 28, 1817 (vol. 2, no. 103).
