- notes: Address of the resident governor opening the Assembly session, setting out the legislative priorities of the imperial administration, delivered on September 4, 1744. Gooch asked the Assembly to add enforcement provisions to the tobacco-inspection law, to provide funds for expenses incurred during negotiations at Lancaster that resulted in the treaty with the Six Nations that spring, and to reinforce the colony's defenses in light of tensions with France.
