- notes: Previous edition, based on fifth London edition, was issued in Williamsburg by William Parks in 1742. Copy of this edition at the Library of Virginia is bound with 1751 edition of John Tennent's Every Man His Own Doctor (1751.001); the copy of that imprint at the American Antiquarian Society is bound with the 1742 edition of Smith's Compleat Housewife (1742.001); the two variant binding-states suggest Hunter disposed of unsold sheets of that 1742 edition still in Parks' estate (d. May 1750) by adding a new edition of Tennent to the mix; his success in marketing that pairing in 1751 instigated publication of this new edition of Smith's work in 1752 in order to continue the profitable bound offering.
