Candid Refutation of Robert Carter Nicholas.
- imprint_number: 1774.003
- title: A candid refutation of the heresy imputed by Ro. C. Nicholas Esquire to the Reverend S. Henley.
- sequence_number: 3
- year: 1774
- place_issued: Williamsburg
- issuing_press: Purdie & Dixon
- author: Henley, Samuel (1740-1815).
- notes: Title page lacks printer credit; it simply notes: "Printed for B. White in London, D. Prince in Oxford, and J. Woodyer in Cambridge," all Anglican ministers who had served in Virginia. Composed as a letter, signed by Henley on March 15, 1774, who was professor of moral philosophy at the College of William & Mary.
Probably a Purdie & Dixon issue as their press was the only one in Williamsburg producing non-official imprints in 1774; they also published a Henley sermon that May (1774.004).
