- sequence_number: 1
- year: 1775
- place_issued: Williamsburg
- issuing_press: Dixon & Hunter
- author: Rittenhouse, David (1732-96).
- notes: The firm of Dixon & Hunter was formed on January 1, 1775, and their first number of the original Virginia Gazette issued on January 7th; thus this imprint was most likely produced that same month. Title page is not dated; both Evans and Drake suggest a 1774 production date, as the regular practice in almanac printing came in the early fall of the preceding year; Clayton-Torrence accepted that erroneous date as correct in his listing.
Authorship is assigned to David Rittenhouse based on identical calculations and astronomical notes seen in the Pinkney almanac for 1775 (1774.026), where Rittenhouse is credited.
