An Act for Speedily Clothing Troops.
- imprint_number: 1777.010
- title: An act for speedily clothing the troops raised by this commonwealth now in continental service.
- sequence_number: 10
- year: 1777
- place_issued: Williamsburg
- issuing_press: Alexander Purdie
- author: Virginia. General Assembly.
- notes: No copy now known extant; was printed as a "secret law" in November 1777 during the ten-week-long Assembly session of October 1777 (October, 20 1777 to January 24, 1778); the existence of this imprint is known from an investigation recorded in the journal of the House of Delegates for this session (1778.002) when that secrecy was compromised; copies were being printed for distribution to county sheriffs, in advance of the requisition by seizure of said clothing, when a copy was taken from Purdie's printing office and circulated in the town, resulting in the concealment of those targeted goods.
