Journal of the House of Delegates (October 1783).
- imprint_number: 1784.003
- title: Journal of the house of delegates of Virginia. General assembly begun and held at the public buildings in the city of Richmond, on Monday the twentieth of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-three; being the second session of the present general assembly.
- sequence_number: 3
- year: 1784
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Dunlap & Hayes
- author: Virginia. General Assembly. House of Delegates.
- notes: Session met from October 20 to December 22, 1783. Surviving copies of imprint all lack the title page, being bound with other session laws; thus printer is reported variously as Dunlap & Hayes (by Swem) and Nicolson & Prentis (by Evans); state records indicate that Hayes was tardy in issuing this journal (near the start of the next Assembly in October 1784) and so was reprimanded for his negligence; printing of an also-tardy Senate journal (1784.004) was then assigned to the Richmond press of Nicolson & Prentis as well.
John Dunlap and James Hayes began work in Richmond in December 1781 as Virginia's public printers; they held the position until May 1786 with Hayes the sole resident proprietor.
