- notes: Imprint lacks date; dating established by order of the House of Delegates on November 2, 1787 that the public printer produce 5000 copies of the document. The firm of Dixon & Holt was appointed as the public printer in June 1786, but that post passed to John Dixon alone on the death of John Hunter Holt in June 1787.
Imprint includes the resolutions of the Constitutional Convention on the ratification and execution of the proposed constitution, as well as a letter signed by George Washington on Sept. 17, 1787 transmitting the document to the Continental Congress, and the resolution of Congress on September 28, 1787 sending the plan to the states for ratification votes.
