- sequence_number: 6
- year: 1788
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Augustine Davis, Thomas Nicolson.
- author: Virginia. General Assembly.
- notes: Session met from October 15, 1787 to January 8, 1788.
Second of two variants of this item; first was issued by Dixon, Davis, and Nicolson (1788.005).
As with the prior Assembly, the task of printing this session's laws was split among the three Richmond presses headed by John Dixon, Augustine Davis, and Thomas Nicolson; Dixon was officially the public printer, having become the sole holder of that office on the death of partner John Hunter Holt in June 1787, but his press office was plagued by production delays, hence the division of the public work and the combined provenance here. Some authorities mistake this combination as a distinct partnership, rather than a collaboration.
