• notes: Sheet lacks printer credit; a subscription form for a planned map, signed in print by William Tatham in Richmond and dated September 1790; Tatham's map was never issued, as he did not find sufficient support for the map, despite considerable effort over the next few years.
  Text states that "The map will contain the following parts of the United States, viz: -- A part of the Jerseys; a part of Pennsylvania; the whole of Delaware; the whole of Maryland; the whole of Virginia; the whole of North Carolina; South Carolina; and Georgia..."
  Text includes a testimonial concerning Tatham's capabilities signed in print by Beverley Randolph, James McClurg, William Nelson Jr., John Harvie, Alexander Montgomery, James Wood, John Tyler, William Hay, and John Marshall – all respected figures in Virginia.
  Surviving copies are accompanied by a printed cover letter with blank spaces for manuscript completions (1790.023) in which Tatham authorizes the named individual to act as his agent for collecting monies pledged and owed. Evans reported both items in a single entry (22924) and so it was filmed with the prospectus by the Early American Imprints Series.
