Instructions for Taking Depositions.
- imprint_number: 1791.029
- title: Instructions for taking depositions : the law requires that you give your adversary reasonable notice of the time and place of taking depositions ... After having shewn the affidavit to the justices, receive it from them and send it safely to me at Richmond without delay.
- sequence_number: 29
- year: 1791
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Uncertain
- author: Virginia. Executive.
- notes: Sheet lacks printer credit; only recorded copy held by Virginia Historical Society is damaged, with the date in the text lost; imprint assigned to 1791 in this Index as a simple expedient.
Printing such notices was a responsibility of the public printer; however two different Richmond printers held that position in the 1790s – John Dixon (1786-1791) and Augustine Davis (1791-99) – thus making even the suggestion of a issuing press impracticable.
