• notes: Signed in print " I have the honor to be, gentlemen, very respectfully, your obedient servant, [blank]." Surviving copies have a manuscript completion of Lee's signature.
  Lee asks that all county escheator positions be filled and the appointees reported to the Executive; also requests that transcripts of slave trials be sent to him before sentencing, as condemned slaves became escheats (private property reverting to the state).
  Sheet lacks printer credit; printing such circular letters was a responsibility of the public printer, then Augustine Davis, so the attribution here. Reported by both Evans and Bristol, with the latter supplying place and press of origin; hence imprint was filmed twice by Early American Imprints Series under the Evans (28000) and Shipton & Mooney (47315) numbers.
