• notes: Petition asks that a District Court be established near the Red-House in northern Prince William County; dated at end in manuscript "Dec. 8, 1797" by a clerk of the House of Delegates, indicating date of submission. In 1799, the General Assembly established a town at this site, called Haymarket, and established a district court there that replaced the existing one at Dumfries.
  Only known copy is held in the state archives at the Library of Virginia.
