- title: Militia law. An act, to amend an act, intituled "An act to amend and reduce into one act, the several acts of assembly for regulating the militia of this Commonwealth.
- sequence_number: 11
- year: 1799
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Jones & Dixon
- author: Virginia. General Assembly.
- notes: Law is included in the Acts of the December 1798 Assembly (Chap. I: An Act, to amend an Act, intituled "An Act to amend and reduce into one Act, the several Acts of Assembly for regulating the Militia of this Commonwealth.").
Sheet lacks printer credit; a year-long assessment in 1798 of the practices of Augustine Davis as the public printer led to his removal from that office in December for failing to distribute an adequate number of public documents to satisfy the needs of western (i.e. Jeffersonian) counties; Council of State replaced him on December 9th with one of their own, Meriwether Jones of Augusta County, who immediately engaged John Dixon Jr. as his print-trade-partner; the new firm of Jones & Dixon held the post until May 1799, so the attribution here.
