Short History of late Ecclesiastical Oppressions in New England.
- imprint_number: 1799.043
- title: A short history of late ecclesiastical oppressions in New-England and Vermont, by a citizen. In which is exhibited a statement of the violation of religious liberties, which are ratified by the Constitution of the United States.
- sequence_number: 43
- year: 1799
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: James Lyon
- author: Ogden, John Cosens, 1751-1800
- notes: Imprint lacks authorial credit; Evans attributed this title to John Cosens Ogden, based on the events described herein; text is essentially a discussion of ties between Federalist politicians in Vermont and Yale-educated Congregational clergy in New England that led to an assault on followers of non-conformist religions under cover of Federalist political authority.
Imprint states: "Printed by James Lyon, at the office of the National magazine." That office was conducted by Meriwether Jones, who employed Lyons as both a journeyman and editor; Lyon's relocation to Richmond was a result of an impending libel prosecution in Vermont at the hands of the Federalist officials mentioned in this text.
