- imprint_number: 1799.062
- title: To the honourable the speaker and gentlemen of the House of Representatives : the memorial and petition ... of the inhabitants of the County of Berkeley ... the wish and hope which accompanies this petition ... is that the County of Berkeley may remain whole ...
- sequence_number: 62
- year: 1799
- place_issued: Virginia
- issuing_press: Uncertain
- author: Inhabitants of Berkeley County.
- notes: Petitioners oppose creation of new county in eastern Berkeley along the Potomac River.
Sheet lacks printer credit and date; only recorded copy held in the state archives at the Library of Virginia is dated at end in manuscript "Dec. 16, 1799" by a clerk of the House of Delegates, indicating date of submission, and so of production; as the petition text and the signatures affixed refer specifically to Berkeley, this sheet likely issued from Martinsburg; however, the possibility of an origin in Winchester or Alexandria cannot be excluded, so the indeterminacy here.
