Circular Letter on Ticket of Republican Electors.
- imprint_number: 1800.034
- title: Richmond, August 9th, 1800. Sir, we have taken the liberty to advise you, to have the tickets for electors of president and vice-president of the United States written; and have thought proper to recommend to you the following form.
- sequence_number: 34
- year: 1800
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Uncertain
- author: Republican Party of Virginia. General Committee.
- notes: Signed in print: "P.N. Nicholas, chairman. Meriwether Jones, Samuel Pleasants, Jun., Joseph Selden, Gervas Storrs, John H. Foushee, secretary." Herein, the committee circulated the names of the ticket of electors pledged to Jefferson & Burr with instructions as to how voters would submit them in the forthcoming election, in accordance with the General Ticket Law.
Sheet lacks printer credit; while clearly issued in Richmond, the press producing this circular is uncertain, particularly as the two Republican printers then operating there – Meriwether Jones and Samuel Pleasants – were both signing members of the corresponding committee.
