- notes: The first of six volumes of case reports published by Daniel Call covering the period 1797 to 1805; vol. 2 was issued in 1802 (1802.0xx), vol. 3 in 1805 (1805.0xx), and vols. 4, 5, & 6 in 1833. This number reports cases heard by the Supreme Court of Appeals (predecessor of the state's modern-day Supreme Court) from Spring term in 1797 through Spring term in 1799.
In November 1911, the Virginia Supreme Court ordered a chronological numbering of the 75 such reporter-named reports that had been published in the state until then, so giving this title a second designation as volume 5 of the Virginia Reports series.
