• notes: Subscription form for a collaboration between the presses of Samuel Pleasants (Republican) and Henry Pace (Federalist) to rectify a shortage of available copies of the 1792 revisal of the laws (1794.036), published then by Augustine Davis; he lost the public printing concession in late 1798, in part, for producing insufficient numbers of documents to meet public needs.
  This joint project was supported by the General Assembly, unlike a similar effort proposed in Winchester at this same time (see 1801.042); they passed a law in January 1802 (Chap. XV in Acts of December 1801 Assembly) authorizing the governor to buy 1000 copies of the new edition and to distribute that pruchase among the state's public officers as he thought most appropriate; the act also appointed a committee of prominent lawyers, which included writer & editor James Rind, to inspect and certify the text's conformity with the Davis-printed edition. The finished project was issued from their presses in February 1803 (1803.0xx).
