• notes: Hummel reported that this broadside carried "correspondence, and comment, on dispute between Lewis Harvie and the proprietors of the paper, Henry Pace and James T. Callender, over Harvie's threat to kill anyone who attacked the name of his father." The corresponding issues of the Recorder are now lost and the copy he saw at the Library of Virginia is missing.
  Lewis Harvie (1782-1807) was the son of Col. John Harvie (1742-1807), once a member of the Continental Congress and of the Council of State, then a real-estate developer in Richmond; the son was later Jefferson's personal secretary (1803-04) and a delegate in the Assembly.
