Fourth of July Oration by John Page.
- imprint_number: 1803.025
- title: An oration, delivered at Gloucester Courthouse, on July the fourth, 1794.
- sequence_number: 25
- year: 1803
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: John Dixon Jr.
- author: Page, John (1744-1808).
- notes: Title page lacks authorial credit; copy held by the Library Company of Philadelphia (and filmed by the Early American Imprints Series) is a presentation copy to Republican journalist and publisher William Duane from "the Author" with "by John Page" added in the same hand between the title and the imprint, hence the attribution here; a second hand wrote "Jno. A. McAllister" across the top of the title text as well.
A resident of Gloucester County and life-long friend of Jefferson, Page was serving the first of his three terms as the governor of Virginia (1802-05) when this oration was published.
