Circular Letter To County Militia Commanders (November 1803).
- imprint_number: 1803.034
- title: [Circular letter with copy of former orders by Gen. Lee and extract from militia law annexed].
- sequence_number: 34
- year: 1803
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Samuel Pleasants
- author: Page, John (1744-1808), governor.
- notes: No copy known extant; Swem recorded this title from order in the Council of State journal to Pleasants on November 1, 1803, to print 100 copies of this directive to the county militias.
While such letters were usually printed by the public printer, this period marks the beginning of the substitution of Pleasants for Meriwether Jones in that office; from summer 1803 until March 1804, Jones was titular printer but often subcontracted work to Pleasants, as here.
