- imprint_number: 1804.006
- title: Organization of the militia of the commonwealth of Virginia in pursuance of the act "to amend and reduce into one, the several acts of the General Assembly, for regulating the militia of this commonwealth," passed the 28th January, 1804.
- sequence_number: 6
- year: 1804
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Uncertain
- author: Virginia. Adjutant General's Office.
- notes: A table of the reorganized state militia, listing the divisions and regiments with the names of their commanding officers, reflecting the changes mandated by the act mentioned in the title (Chap. I of the Acts of the December 1803 Assembly); signed repeatedly throughout the text by Samuel Coleman, then Deputy Adjutant General.
This title lacks imprint; while such circulars were usually printed by the public printer, credit for producing this item is unclear; Meriwether Jones resigned that office in March 1804 and was replaced by Samuel Pleasants; but prior to that change, Jones regularly subcontracted the public work to other printers as he reduced the scale and output of his press in advance of his resignation; so as this title was issued in February or March of 1804, several Richmond printers could have produced the item, hence the indeterminacy here.
