- notes: The copy that Swem saw at the Library of Congress not in that repository's current catalog; contemporaneous newspaper accounts indicate that Page issued this set of instructions to the quarantine officers in Virginia's ports in June or July 1804 in response to a fever epidemic then raging in the West Indies.
Sheet lacks colophon; printing such proclamations was a responsibility of the public printer, then Samuel Pleasants, so the attribution.
