Governor’s Address to the Assembly of December 8, 1807.
- imprint_number: 1808.015
- title: Governor’s letter. Richmond, December 8, 1807.
- sequence_number: 15
- year: 1808
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Seaton Grantland
- author: Cabell, William H. (1772-1853), governor.
- notes: Imprint carries Grantland's colophon on last page, though it lacks a date; item is a reprinting of previously published materials – Annual Message of the Governor (1807.075), State of Commonwealth’s Revenue with Statement of Tax Arrearages (1807.076), and Report of the Superintendent of the State Penitentiary (1807.077) – with the addition of other documents that Cabell submitted to this Assembly: a report on new arms finished and old arms repaired (January 14, 1808), a state of the revenue tax, for 1806, on land, slaves and other property (November 30, 1807), a List of expenditures from Oct.1m 1806 to Oct. 1 1807 (November 30, 1807), and a list of the titles of the acts passed at session of 1807-08; that last element sets the publication date as sometime after February 10, 1808, the last day of this session.
Printing such items was the responsibility of the public printer, then Samuel Pleasants; but it appears that he subcontracted this project to Grantland, his protégé, while completing the journals and session laws for this Assembly session.
