• notes: Correspondence concerns the Claim of Amélie-Eugénie Caron de Beaumarchais (1801.015) and its adjudication in 1802 (see 1802.070 & 1802.071); the claim related to munitions and monies advanced to Virginia during the Revolutionary War by Beaumarchais's late husband; Warden represented both the marchioness and officers of the Virginia Line involved in the transaction; the letter and supporting documents were received by the House on December 12, 1808, and 250 copies were ordered printed by the public printer, Samuel Pleasants, for the use of the Assembly in its deliberations. Warden won partial compensation on January 11, 1809, being granted costs for representing Beaumarchais, but not for the Virginians.
