- notes: Harper, formerly a Federalist congressman from South Carolina, was practicing law in nearby Baltimore at this time, and would be elected later in the year as president of the Washington Society of Maryland; he was also an alternate (and unsolicited) candidate for Vice-President among Federalists in 1816, though not the choice of the national party caucus, while briefly serving as a U.S. senator from Maryland after military service in the War of 1812.
