Apparently the last and most extensive compilation of newspaper articles published in Richmond concerning the Theater Fire of December 26, 1811; Robert Dutton & Co. was a forwarding agency, which indicates a continuing demand for the letters and reports reprinted herein among their customers in rural Virginia and North Carolina; the first edition of this work (1812.032), now lost, was apparently produced by Lynch for his own benefit and was unavailable by the time Dutton contracted him for this enlarged edition.
