Petition seeking Chancery District Court at Fredericksburg.
- imprint_number: 1813.105
- title: The petition of sundry inhabitants of the county of [blank] to the Legislature ...
- sequence_number: 105
- year: 1813
- place_issued: Fredericksburg
- issuing_press: Uncertain
- author: Citizens in the Richmond Chancery District.
- notes: Sheet lacks colophon; only known copy, held in the state archives at the Library of Virginia, has manuscript completion in name of Caroline County and is dated December 13, 1813, the date it was received by the House of Delegates; that locale indicates this title issued from one of the two Fredericksburg presses then in operation, so the partial attribution here.
In this session of the Assembly, a deluge of similar petitions, echoing floods unleashed in the previous two sessions, finally impelled a division of the Williamsburg & Richmond chancery-courts into four districts, with the addition of new courts at Fredericksburg & Lynchburg (see Chap. XVI of Acts of December 1813 Assembly).
