- title: The American star: being a choice collection of the most approved patriotic and other songs. Together with many original ones never before published.
- sequence_number: 47
- year: 1814
- place_issued: Richmond
- issuing_press: Peter Cottom
- author: -----
- notes: Imprint states: "Richmond: Published by Peter Cottom, at his law and miscellaneous book-store, second door above the Eagle Tavern., 1814." Cottom evidently had this work printed in New York City, as he entered copyright for the title in the U.S. District Court there on August 29, 1814, and the single illustration herein [frontispiece depicting "Perry's Victory"] is signed by a New York engraver named Chiquet. Still, Cottom intended this title for sale in Virginia, as evinced by the imprint, though he likely also used copies of it to trade for other book stocks.
