  This item has been erroneously reported as the earliest known example of the addition of "The Drunkard's Emblem" to the title-form of Rush's widely re-published An Enquiry into the Effects of Spirituous Liquors upon the Human Body (1784), although the Americanization of word "Enquiry" into "Inquiry" marks most editions after 1800. In reality, Jonathan Foster of Winchester issued a duodecimo edition with this title-form three years before (1811.A07); here Henkel was evidently following Foster's lead in filling unmet demand for Rush's essay in the wake of relatively-inexpensive, small-format editions being published in New York and Philadelphia in 1811 for "gratis distribution."
