• notes: Privations in 2nd U.S. Regiment of Light Dragoons, and its general misuse by Gen. William Henry Harrison, led several of the regiment's officers in to blame their immediate superior, Virginian James V. Ball, with the unit's disintegration in late 1814; their accusations brought Ball's court martial in 1815, where no substance was found to support the charges.
